About South Bay Community
Established in 1985. Here at South Bay Community Church, we are serious about a personal relationship with God, and it's all about the Journey. We seek to go both deep and wide in loving God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength and our neighbors as ourselves to share God's love in a broken world.
Our Mission
Our Core Values
Based on biblical study on what the church is called to be and do in the world, expanded by a congregational survey on what our members felt were the most important elements of SBCC's ministry the Re-Launch Task Force developed the following SBCC Core Values. These Core Values were ratified by the congregation in February 2011;
- Submitted to the Spirit
- Transformed by the Word
- Nurtured toward Spiritual Growth in the Community of Believers
- Shaped to Serve for God's Glory
- Welcoming with Christ's Love
- Committed to Global and Local Outreach
Our Denomination
As a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church denomination, our essential beliefs are summed up in what we call Covenant Affirmations:
- We affirm the centrality of the word of God.
- We affirm the necessity of the new birth.
- We affirm a commitment to the whole mission of the church.
- We affirm the church as a fellowship of believers.
- We affirm a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit.
- We affirm the reality of freedom in Christ.
