Chances are, someone helped shape your life when you were younger.

A teacher. A mentor. A church community that made space for you to grow.

This May, a team of 11 from South Bay Community Church will travel to Belize to offer that same kind of encouragement and support alongside trusted local partners in Belmopan.

Together with Abundant Life Church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Elementary School, and Pathlight International, the team will:

• Install new flooring in a church sanctuary
• Complete painting and repair work at a local elementary school
• Support reading assessments for younger students
• Lead leadership sessions for high school students

These projects strengthen spaces where faith grows, learning happens, and young lives are shaped with hope.

Even if you are not traveling, you are part of this mission.

Through prayer and financial support, our church family helps provide the tools, materials, and resources that make this work possible. And along the way, we grow together as a community learning what it means to follow Jesus beyond the walls of the sanctuary.

This is one way we live out our calling to Connect with God, Grow Together, and Change the World.

If you feel led to participate, you can support the Belize Missions effort through the church giving portal by selecting Belize Missions from the dropdown menu.

Step into the journey with us and help carry hope where it’s needed most.

When Someone Needs a Safe Place to Rest

Some people in our community are carrying more than they can hold right now. This May, fifteen guests will find safety each night through SBCC’s Safe Parking ministry.

You can help by preparing or serving meals, donating gas cards, or supporting food costs. Dinner teams serve from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, and Saturday breakfasts from 8:00 to 9:30 AM.

Even one evening makes a difference.

Step into this month of hospitality and help create a place of rest.

Walk Justly. Love Mercy. Live Humbly.

At South Bay Community Church, we believe God calls us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly (Micah 6:8).

That's why the Advocates for Justice ministry exists—to foster awareness and action on issues of justice, equality, and advocacy in our community and beyond. Led by Pastor Tony DeGruy, this ministry offers resources, readings, podcasts, and opportunities to engage with real issues that matter.

Discovery Shop: Giving With Purpose

Discovery Shop is a ministry of South Bay Community Church dedicated to serving individuals and families in need through gently used clothing and basic household items. Rooted in our mission to change the world, this ministry offers a simple yet meaningful way to extend compassion, dignity, and care to our community.

By participating in Discovery Shop, our congregation helps meet real, everyday needs while living out our faith in action. This ministry reminds us that generosity is more than a gesture. It is a response to God’s call to love our neighbors in practical and tangible ways.

There is an ongoing need for winter items, including male and female socks, walking shoes, coats, sweaters, and similar essentials. Donations can be placed in the designated bins located in the church lobby.

Discovery Shop also serves as a resource for those looking to support others they know who are experiencing hardship. Congregants who wish to retrieve items from the shop to share with the underserved are encouraged to connect with Denise Churchill using the contact information available in the Elexio app.

Whether you donate, help distribute items, or simply spread the word, your participation helps turn compassion into action. Learn more or register to get involved and be part of how SBCC continues to serve our community with love.
