“In that coming day,” says the Lord, “I will gather together those who are lame, those who have been exiled, and those whom I have filled with grief. Those who are weak will survive as a remnant; those who were exiles will become a strong nation. Then I, the Lord, will rule from Jerusalem[a] as their king forever.” Micah 4:6-7 (NLT)

Circle of Friends is the Disability, Injury, Special Needs Ministry focused on educating its members to understand and welcome people with disabilities into the SBCC family to help them feel supported, befriended, and needed.

We live in a broken world, and as a result, we encounter pain and suffering in countless ways. Some suffering is due to our sinful and wrong choices, but some are due purely to the fallen world, which impacts the innocent and guilty.

Suffering may come in different ways, such as homelessness, illnesses, disability, grief, loss of job, failed marriages (etc.)

  • What happens when it seems as though your whole world is falling apart?
  • How do we make sense of pain and grief?
  • Why does God not appear to be concerned about my pain and suffering?
  • How do I not doubt God’s love, mercy, and care when I am in constant pain or sick and confined to my bed, unable to attend church?
  • Why am I in this all alone?
  • How can we comfort others during their suffering, just as God comforts us?

In an online, bi-weekly class, we will ding through the Word for answers to these questions and more.

We will better understand what the Bible says about disability and suffering, God’s purposes for suffering, God’s power through weakness, Growth through suffering, and how we as a church can advocate for people with disabilities.

Classes will begin Monday, June 12th at 7:00 PM and occur every 2nd and 4th Monday after.

It’s exciting to start a class that will help us understand the different perceptions and viewpoints of people with disabilities and how it manifests for those in religious leadership roles.

Sign up for the class, and let’s begin embracing our brokenness. In turn, we’ll be able to welcome physically and visibly broken people and bring hope, love, and care to those who need it most.
