WHAT IS A DEACON?

At South Bay, a deacon is someone who accepts a ministry call of service and care based on the biblical model established in Acts 6 and 1 Timothy 3. Based on this model and criteria, South Bay men and women are recommended, presented and ratified by the congregation to serve in this capacity.

WHAT IS THE MISSION?

Our mission is to provide care for South Bay Community Church members on their spiritual journey through prayer, encouragement, and general support, as well as support during a crisis.

WHAT DO DEACONS DO?
Deacons serve by:

  • Communicating with Care Unit members regularly
  • Praying for and offering practical guidance and support to our members, as needed
  • Providing spiritual care/discipleship
  • Responding to member emergency needs
  • Serving in partnership with the Elders, as part of church leadership
